Santorini, Greece

Next stop on our cruise was Santorini, Greece. Let me tell you, it was beautiful. Most of you have seen pictures of Greece with little white buildings and blue roofs....well its Santorini. This little island was so beautiful and relaxing. We road a water taxi to the shore and caught a bus up a curvy road on our tour of the island. Santorini is actually the remains of a volcanic eruption (the worlds largest to date) with two small islands that are arc shaped. We traveled first to the highest point on the island and had an amazing view of the whole island. Afterward we were taken around the island (it is small...so driving around it is not too bad), told a bit about its volcanic history and given a guided tour of a few cities including Fira and Oia. We had a great meal in Oia, where I discovered my love for Tzatziki....OH MY GOODNESS. Its a type of Greek yogurt (which is strange because I hate yogurt) with shredded carrots, cucumbers and other seasonings in it. It is great on pita and chicken. After lunch, we decided to take a bus to a local beach called Parissa with famous black sand and go for a swim in the Aegean Sea. We had alot of fun ( I enjoyed laying in the sun) and even more fun waiting an hour for the bus to come back to our stop and pick us up. On the way back we had to use the restroom, and discovered that the bus station bathrooms were squatty potties (for those of you who don't know what they are....stay tuned...I will blog about them). I have to say I was pretty excited to see them because I have only seen them in EA. I was excited to show my mother in law and niece....although by the looks on their faces they did not share in my excitement. Afterwards we walk around Fira and shopped (although the stores were so expensive I did not buy one thing!). I enjoyed Santorini and would recommend this island to anybody looking to travel to Greece.

A map of Santorini...The beach Parissa is located on the bottom arch of the map

Great Quote

"O young men, awake and see how many souls are daily perishing around you. Is it not your duty to save them? Be brave soldiers of Christ. Go forward in full armor. Crush Satan's work and victory shall be yours...Christ has given you a precious opportunity to be saved and to save others. If you are careless now, you will never get another chance, you will never pass through the field of battle again. The day is fast approaching when you will see the martyrs in their glory, who gave their health, wealth and life to win souls for Christ. They have done much. O, may we not blush in that day."

Go unto ALL the world

Please take a few minutes to watch these videos:

I have been to some of the places in this video, I have seen people worshiping idols, I have seen Muslims going into a mosque after hearing the call to prayer, I have met people who did not know who Jesus was. My heart weeps for them. They need to hear. What will you do about it?
"How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"(Romans 10:14-15)

Pardon the Interruption...

Ok....this blog has alot of pictures....but I love taking pictures. So here is what Chad and I did for my birthday! First we went to Santa Monica and got cupcakes from my favorite cupcake place...Yummy Cupcakes and enjoyed them overlooking the Santa Monica Pier. Then we braved traffic and drove back down into LA and tryed a new Japanese Restraunt in Little Tokyo called Shabu Shabu. When we went in there was a wait....we had to ask somebody waiting what to do. They told us we needed to sign our names on the list so we had to go over to the yellow steno pad and sign our names in. We noticed they took only cash so we had to go to a Japanese grocery store to get some change. When we were finally sat we were a bit at a loss for what to do. Our food was served really quick because there are only two options and the food is set before you sit in your seat. We had to ask our server and watch the others in the restraunt to know what to do. I flavored my boiling water and put in my meat and veggies....when it looked cooked i put it with my rice and seasoned it. It was pretty good...although chad and I both agreed it could have used some teryaki! I had the noodles last and they soaked up all the juice and they tasted amazing. The next day (my actual birthday) we went to Disneyland. It was raining in Riverside, so i thought it would be cold....well i was wrong..it was super hot. So we were pretty miserable at D-land but toughed it out and had fun in the end. Then we finished with dinner at the Olive Garden. It was a nice birthday...thanks Chad for making it special!
