Peace

Am I the only one who is afraid to fly? I feel like I need to take some "calming" pills before I get on a plane. This fear I have seems to be getting worse. I find myself thinking about how the weather will affect the flight and what if there is turbulence (my worst fear!!). I'm such a chicken!!! So I busy myself thinking about the food that will be served and the in flight movies. Hoping they are long and the ride is smooth. Is it stupid that I have been praying for a smooth flight constantly?? I have had some funny prayer requests answered in the past so I'm hoping this one is answered too! Its ok though, I will get over it once the movie starts or the food comes rolling around :) How about you.....does flying make you nervous?? Here is a picture that made me laugh! Have a great night!!

There will be a day.....

There is this song I like and some of the lyrics say "There will be a day....with no more tears.....no more pain.....no more fear.....there will be a day....when the burdens of this world will be no more....we will see Jesus face to face..." what a glorious promise that is. Today I stumbled upon a blog written about a person diagnosed with cancer and all that it entails written through the eyes of a friend/roommate. It brought back some sad memories of my father in law Bob, and how I felt watching him going to Chemo, surgeries, in and out of the hospital and eventually into hospice care, where he peacefully passed away. Sandie (my mother in law) got a book about grieving.....one of the ways people grieve is by suppressing it. That is exactly what I have been doing. So when I think of everything it hits me hard....really hard. When my uncle passed my grief was different. It was almost disbelief because it was so sudden, I almost didn't believe he had passed. I strangely thought this was some type of horrible joke and was waiting for him to jump up from behind a bush and say "just kidding!!" What made it final for me was seeing him at the viewing. It was so hard to do that.....it took me almost the whole 4 hours (the time allotted for the viewing) to go up and see him. That's when it was final.....when I had closure you can say. I will still cry immediately when speaking of him (even though I try to hide it) or when I see an old car.....the same is true with bob. We had dinner at my mother in laws tonight and i had some tears in my eyes thinking of what Bob would have been saying or doing or how he would have been making fun of us, asking us questions or pestering us in some way. I miss him. Its weird how there is this big empty space (it feels) when somebody passes away. Reading that blog on  somebodies journey through cancer has brought all the memories of Bob flooding back and the sadness, the wound you could say is still raw and I'm still hurting. Pray for my family....this is not easy.

Here is a song from David Crowder called "You never let go."  It is a great reminder for me.

Lodi trip

On Memorial Day weekend Chad, my mother in law, Sonia (my niece) and I drove up to Lodi, CA for a weekend away. Lodi is about 30 minutes from Sacramento...in case you don't know where it is.

Our drive looked mostly like this:
We saw a new water tower for each city we passed here is what they looked like:
Sonia did alot of this when driving:

Chad's uncle Greg owns and operates this great restraunt up in Lodi called "The Dancing Fox," it is also a wine tasteing place because he owns his own vineyards. It was amazing. Great food (loved the Almond bark and cookies) and great wine samples!! Here is what it looked like:
It was so beautiful and we had such a great time feasting on the fresh made bread and pastries not to mention the delicious pizza, sunday brunch and Sangria!! We were blessed to stay at Gregs house and enjoyed the pool and spa while we were there:
We also took a day trip to a few old mining towns that I have since forgot the names of....but they were so cute! They had all kinds of great antique stores and amazing views!
We also were able to visit Greg's vineyards. They were beautiful and also where he gets his grapes to make his wines:
It was a great tip....much needed after all we have been through this past month. I hope we can go visit again soon! I will leave you with a few pictures from our evening walk in the vineyard Greg owns behind his home:
Have a great afternoon!

I will be here

When Chad and I were getting married, we had a hard time picking the song we were going to do our first dance to. Chads mom suggested the song "I will be Here" by Steven Curtis Chapman. That is the song we used. When we chose that song I did not realize how much of the song would come true in the short span we have been married. I can say that this song's lyrics ring true of Chad and I now more than ever....definitely more than when we were first married. We have been through allot, and I know that there is still more to come. I often think that we are a weathered couple, having been through losses of jobs (3 total), major deaths in the family and health scares etc. I am so glad Chad and I are married, I don't know where I would be without him. Here are the lyrics:

I will Be Here
By: Steven Curtis Chapman

Tomorrow mornin' if you wake up
And the sun does not appear
I...I will be here

If in the dark we lose sight of love
Hold my hand and have no fear
'Cause I...I will be here

I will be here...
When you feel like bein' quiet
When you need to speak your mind
I will listen
And I will be here
When the laughter turns to cryin'
Through the winnin' and losin' and tryin'
We'll be together
'Cause I will be here

Tomorrow mornin' if you wake up
And the future is unclear
I...I'll be here

Just as sure as seasons are made for change
Our lifetimes are made for years
I...I will be here

I will be here....
You can cry on my shoulder
When the mirror tells us we're older
I will hold you

And I will be here
To watch you grow in beauty
And tell you all the things you are to me
I will be here

I will be true
To the promise I have made
To you and to the
One who gave you to me

I...I will be here

And just as sure as seasons are made for change
Our lifetimes are made for years
'Cause I...
I will be here....
We'll be together

'Cause I will be here
