A New Begining

For those of you who don't know, I have worked at the Olive Garden as a server for over a year and a half. I did that while also being a substitute teacher and picking up any other odd jobs I could find. A few weeks ago I gave my two weeks notice (the first time I have ever done that!) and Friday was my last shift. I left that day excited about what God has in store for me. I feel as if I am taking a step of faith, not trying to earn money by overworking myself, but trusting in God for provision. I had been putting work before God. Not reading my bible as much and being forced to work on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights when our church has bible studies. I realized that I needed to make a change. God needed to be first. So I did something that would seem silly in the eyes of anybody else. I quit my job, after losing a job about 2 years ago, I can honestly say that I did not think I would ever quit a job. The fear of the unknown is scary, but God is faithful and HE WILL provide.

Since leaving the Olive Garden I have been alot happier. My stress level has gone down and I have been eating better. I have not had to worry about my coworkers being mean to me or making me feel bad. I am so glad that I am finished working there. There were alot of people at my work who fit this verse in Titus 1:16 "They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him..." This was so evident at work. So many of my coworkers professed to be believers yet denied Him by their actions. It made me sad. To see them living contrary to what  the scriptures say and encouraging others to do so like it says in Romans 1:29-32 "being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful; and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them." I am not saying these things to be mean but to point out the hypocrisy that is occurring among those who claim Christ. This is not just confined to the walls of the Olive Garden, but all over the world. Christians, if you are one, stand firm in your faith. Read the word, every day! Know what you believe! You will not know unless you read the word DAILY! I am so sad to hear believers who have never read the whole Bible! Go read it right now! I am in the book of Revelation, where are you at?

Gladys Aylward

I have been reading these great books on various Christians who obey the Great Commission which is found in Matthew 28:18-20 and says 

"And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth."Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." 

 So in light of this commandment, we are to go and share. The book of Acts is filled with believers who obey this commandment! Go read it! One such believer who obeyed this command was Gladys Aylward. She was a poor-uneducated woman from England who was not educated enough to pass the first classes at the Mission society she was training at to become a missionary to China. She felt the call and even though she failed the courses she continued in her quest to become a missionary to China. This book is so encouraging and a quick read, I would encourage all to read it! You will be inspired at what one woman could do when she let herself be used by God and stepped out in faith!

"... if God has called you to China or any other place and you are sure in your own heart, let nothing deter you... remember it is God who has called you and it is the same as when He called Moses or Samuel."
