Aghios Nikolaos, Crete, Greece

I hope you are all enjoying my pictures and info on each stop on the cruise. I am having fun posting these and going down memory lane a bit. OK so after Santorini, Greece we stopped at Aghios Nikolaos, Crete, Greece (whew long name). In Crete we took a tour. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable (well shouldn't they all be?) and told us some neat stories about the island of Crete. Our took us to the palace of Knossos which was the center of the ancient Minoan civilization. The palace was incredibly crowded. We did get to see a neat underground storage area, where wine was stored and made. We were also able to peek into the "throne room" and see the excavated throne. We also saw some beautiful frescoes....which are paintings on the plaster of the walls that have dried. They were beautiful. At the end of the tour we had thirty minutes to shop in the neat little stores around the ruins. Sonia and I even got fresh squeezed orange juice...which we both agreed was amazing even though it was not cold :)
